UNYQ, a frontrunner in medical wearables, is teaming up with IKEA to present a one of a kind prototype that aims at making gaming equipment ergonomic, customized and coherent and interactive with interior design. UNYQ has worked closely together with educational e-sport company Area Academy to explore how home furnishing can change gaming and life around it – addressing appearance, ergonomics and mobility. The collaboration is unveiled today during IKEA’s Democratic Design Days in Älmhult, Sweden.
There are around two billion gamers around the world, a group that is growing fast. For long, this group has been overlooked in terms of design, customization, and accessibility. IKEA has engaged UNYQ to create a prototype that aims at making gaming equipment ergonomic, customized and last but not least, coherent and interactive with interior design. In short, a 3D printed chair for gamers. The prototype has taken only nine weeks to design and execute, showing the vast potential of UNYQ’s design team as well as their means of production. The result of this collaboration will be available for a limited time starting in 2020.
